| kedar klarke's countdown of top fashion trends of 2009 |

As the year comes to a close, I find this to be the perfect time to recap on what was HOT and what was NOT! Unlike women's fashion, men's wear should be timeless, tasteful and effortless. This year, we've seen trends that have made most men look really nice. With male celebrities and other fashion conscious men making certain trends "a must have", we have seen a growing increase of men who have "up-ed" their closet-game and put a bit more effort in their image. Over a series of blogs, I'll share some of the best and worst fashion trends we've seen this year and also fill you in on some new trends for 2010!

|the military trend|

A staple design of Burberry (one of London's premier fashion houses), the military style has dominate 2009...fashionably. Designers took traditional oxford shirts and included epaulets (typically seen on a military uniform shirt for shoulder pads), creating a look that is distinguished and elegantly masculine. This design has become popular for its diversity; being worn on a causal day with shorts or dressed up with a neck tie for a dinner party. Luckily, almost every male designer took a hold of this trend and added it to other items; jackets, oxford shirts, t-shirts, etc., making the military style this year's most sort after trend!

And for the style
 winning the "NOT Award"............................

The excessive embellishments that most urban designers have included, has made the military shirt less tasteful. Guys, when looking for a great trend to get into, less is always best.
